Spatial variability and temporal changes of POPs in European background air

چکیده

Concentration data on POPs in air is necessary to assess the effectiveness of international regulations aiming reduce emissions persistent organic pollutants (POPs) into environment. European background are continuously monitored using active- and passive sampling techniques at a limited number atmospheric monitoring stations. As result low spatial resolution such continuous monitoring, there understanding main sources controlling burdens across Europe. The key objectives this study were measure temporal variability concentrations with high (n = 101) 33 countries within Europe, use observations models concert if measured mainly governed by secondary or continuing primary emissions. Hexachlorobenzene (HCB) was not only POP detected highest (median: 67 pg/m3), but also that had significantly increased over last decade. HCB positively correlated latitude. For other targeted POPs, observed southern part declining trend observed. Spatial differences changes example, γ-HCH (hexachlorocyclohexane) largest decrease south while α-HCH declined most central-east High occurrence degradation products organochlorine pesticides isomeric ratios indicated past usage. Model predictions PCB-153 (2,2’,4,4’,5,5’-hexachlorobiphenyl) Global EMEP Multi-media Modelling System suggest more important than burdens, relative importance influential Europe compared northern Our highlights major advantages combining mechanistic modelling approaches provide insights primary- emission Such knowledge considered vital for policy makers potential further reduction strategies legacy POPs.

Spatial and Temporal Variability of Water Quality for Karun River, in Upstream and Downstream Gotvand Dam

In this study, the spatial and temporal variability of water quality including monthly series of TDS, EC, So4, Cl, Ca and Na in common statistical period 1993-2014 was evaluated for the Karun River. This assessment is based on qualitative data stations including Susan in the upstream of Gotvand reservoir, Gotvand, Mollasani and Ahvaz in the downstream. To determine the parameters trend process,...

Assessment of Spatial and Temporal Variability of Extreme Precipitation Indices (North and West of Iran)

The frequency of precipitation extreme event can cause flood or change the drought period. Accurate understanding of these changes is necessary to take action to reduce these effects. In this research, temporal and spatial changes of 14 precipitation indices for eight synoptic stations in the North and West of the country were investigated. For this purpose, after reconstructing the daily preci...

Long-term spatial and temporal variability of ambient carbon monoxide in Urmia, Iran

One of the pillars of epidemiologic research on the long-term health effects of air pollution is to estimate the chronic exposures over space and time. In this study, we aimed to measure the intra-urban ambient carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations within Urmia city in Iran, and to build a model within the geographic information system (GIS) to estimate the annual and seasonal means anywhere with...

the role of russia in transmission of energy from central asia and caucuses to european union
